Tennis section

The 7 hard courts all have all-weather surfaces - 4 are floodlit.

Adult tennis

3 men’s and 3 ladies’ teams play LTA league matches in the summer and 1 men’s and 2 ladies’ teams in the winter. Also in the winter, the club organises a local floodlit league of 12 mixed doubles, playing in the evenings under lights.

Social tennis

There is a wide variety to suit all, which is continued throughout the year if weather permits.
  • Monday 7-9pm Men's’ club night, just turn up and play doubles, a member helps to arrange the pairings.
  • Tuesday 7-9pm Ladies club night, 7-9pm, same as the men's’.
  • Wednesday 10-12am Traditional social tennis - mixed skills, ladies and gents, players of any age, open to non-members who pay a higher fee.
    7-9pm Mixed club night, turn up and play mixed doubles. Free to members.
  • Thursday 7-9pm Often a league match, but some courts available for other players.
  • Friday 10-12am Social tennis as on Wednesdays.
  • Sunday During spring and summer, round-robin sessions are held. These are advertised on the notice board.
Apart from the above. members may play at any time when courts are available; booking can be made by phone or in the club. You may just want to have a game with friends or family. There are also in-house competitions and family events, sometimes finishing with a barbecue or other social event.

Non-members

If you are not a member and thinking of joining, or taking up the game again after a time off, you are welcome to come to one of the club nights and see how you get on. Also, if you are just visiting here for a short while, do use our facilities. Balls may be purchased from the bar, and rackets borrowed or bought from one of the coaches.

Coaching


All coaching is by “Tennis Hereford”, run by Club head coach Andrew Griffiths, LTA licensed, NVQ level 4. This is available for all ages and abilities, either groups or singly, by arrangement. For further information phone Andrew (07971 172664) or visit our Facebook page
